If you create an optional learner account, the details you submit and associated learning progress and bookmarks are processed to provide account services. Our hosting provider may automatically process limited technical information when you access the site. This can include:

• Log and Usage Data: IP addresses, browser types, language preferences, operating systems, referring URLs, and pages visited.
• Device Information: Technical details about the device you use to access the site, which helps us optimize our responsive design.

2. Cookies and Analytics

Learn French Daily uses Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and improve the site. Plausible is designed not to use advertising cookies or create personal profiles. Our hosting provider may also use strictly necessary technologies to deliver and protect the site.

The homepage study list and daily practice completion dates are saved in your browser's local storage. They are not sent to our account service or synchronized across devices. Up to 366 completion dates are retained. You can remove saved lessons using their bookmark controls or clear this site's browser data to remove all local study activity. These local features are separate from bookmarks and progress associated with a learner account.

The technical data collected is strictly utilized for operational, security, and analytical purposes, specifically:

4. Third-Party Services

Learn French Daily is hosted using Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request data to deliver content, maintain security, and prevent abuse under its own privacy policy. Plausible provides aggregate website analytics. Newsletter subscriptions are processed by Buttondown when you submit your email address through the signup form; Buttondown manages subscription data and unsubscribe requests under its own privacy policy.

The homepage loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives the technical information needed to serve those requests. Optional pronunciation uses your browser's speech synthesis service. Depending on your browser and selected voice, the displayed French sentence may be processed by the device or its voice provider.
